JujuEdit 1.41b

I’ve updated the main JujuEdit page, so anyone being sent there by the old version can pick up the new one. This seems like a pretty stable release, but feel free to break it and tell me how you did it :)

I’d like to get into a pattern of more frequent updates, since the annual release method just means I just leave it all until the last month anyway and then freak out when I realize I’m not ready.

I also need some kind of simple bug/feature tracking system for my software, since I currently have none. Does anyone have any suggestions for something incredibly simple and free for handling this kind of thing…?

You might want to check out ToDoList on codeproject:
    http://www.codeproject.com/tools/todolist2.asp

It allows you to arrange your tasks / bugs in a hierarchy and you can track time spent on tasks, set priorities, estimated timings, ….

I use it at work to manage all my programming work and bug reports, and I love it.

I can’t believe I forgot about Dan.G’s software– It’s high time I tried it out! [I think I last saw it way back when it was version 1]

Gee, the world really is small!

I’m reading a lot of programmer’s blogs and it’s really funny to see people, who’s software I really like, show up in the comments of those blogs

I’ve been using TDL since I started working in december 2003 and it has progressed a lot. It even contains a feature that I used to add in older versions.

Great! But how about providing alternate build which doesn’t make \ key increase the font size! I can only use this great software to view files as writing \, which is quite common in all kinds of configuration and code files, causes the font size to go bigger. Come on, if you need a larger font, you buy a bigger display - like 24″ or bigger with a nice 1920×1200 atleast and then you use Longhorn Beta 1 with it! (In a month that is)

I’ve been a loyal user for a year now and would like to move to use this as a primary notepad replacement, but now I need another notepad program at same time for editing cause of the cursed font size increase hotkey.

Hmmm, that’s a new one, since really only Ctrl+Plus and Ctrl+Minus are supposed to change the font size. Are you saying that simply typing “\” [without holding down Control key] causes the font size to change?

PS: I’ll be happy to get back to you directly if you could add your email when you comment [or you can email me direct with mrjuju at jujusoft dot com]

  6. bling Says:

Well the \ comes by pressing Alt Gr & + together
And Alt Gr is possibly interpreted as Alt + Ctrl, depending how you read the keyboard I think. Not certain though.

  7. mark Says:

It seems that is exactly what’s happening [I don’t have an Alt Gr key, but it is apparently the same as Ctrl+Alt], so have made a small change which should fix your problem.

    Try:
    http://www.jujusoft.com/software/edit/jujuedit-1.42b.exe

Let me know if this fixes the problem for you, and if so I will make it the new release.

  8. bling Says:

Thanks, that seems to have fixed it!

you’re right there! mark and i are linked thru an employer (now figuratively dead) who i started work for just after mark had left.

ps. mark: i work on a roughly 1-2 month release schedule for TDL which helps keep me buzzing. sometimes i release sooner just so i can get on to the next interesting piece of design.

I think I should probably aim for quarterly releases, and embrace the idea of rapid response– problems get fixed much faster when there’s someone to find them.

BTW I suspect there’s life in KB yet ;) Haven’t heard much about the trial lately though…
